Horgen

The groundwork for handball in Horgen goes back to 1949, when the Turnverein Horgen began laying the foundation for a field handball side, but the club itself took shape on 29 September 1967, when the handball sections of TV Horgen and Sportclub Horgen merged at a founding assembly held at the Schinzenhof. Heinrich Gribi took on the presidency, Edwin Fehr handled the finances, and Fritz Biber, credited as the initiator, pushed the merger through; a year later Walter Altenburger set up the junior programme.

That youth work paid off in 1984 with the Swiss B-Junioren championship, and by 1985/86 the men's side had climbed all the way to the NLA, strengthened by academy players and a Portuguese international. The senior team has since settled a tier lower, now fielding a joint side with HC Wädenswil under the SG Wädenswil/Horgen banner, which finished runner-up in the Nationalliga B in both 2020/21 and 2021/22. Gabriele Rosano, who came through the club's own academy, won the Swiss U21 title with the youth side in 2009 before moving on to GC Amicitia Zürich.

Horgen still trains and plays in red and white under the HCH initials, at home in the Sporthalle Waldegg.
