In September 1975 Independiente walked out at the Félix Capriles and put four goals past The Strongest without reply. That single afternoon, in the Torneo Pentagonal de Cochabamba, sits at the centre of what is known about the club's past, in a record that otherwise offers few dates and fewer names.

Independiente plays out of Cochabamba, in the country's central valley, and has spent recent seasons working through the lower levels of Bolivian football: a stretch in the Liga Nacional B, also called the Copa Simón Bolívar, and appearances in the Primera 'A' run by the Asociación de Fútbol Cochabamba, the regional third tier, where the club finished third in its group in 2021. There is no trophy to point to from either level, and no founding date has surfaced to anchor the club's early years.

The Estadio Sudamericano Félix Capriles holds up to 32,000, though club matches are usually capped well below that for safety. It is a ground the city knows for bigger occasions than Independiente's own fixtures, which makes the 1975 result against a Bolivian giant like The Strongest carry more weight than it might elsewhere.
