Ingenieros

Dionisio Gutiérrez took charge of Ingenieros in 2025, the year the club again finished as runners-up in the AFO Primera "A", this time behind E.M. Huanuni. The result fits a pattern that has followed the club through most of its life: eleven second-place finishes against four titles, won in 1994, 1996, 2002 and 2003. Behind the bench and the numbers sits an origin unusual for Bolivian football — Ingenieros grew out of the National Faculty of Engineering at the Universidad Técnica de Oruro, founded on 3 July 1924 by its students and staff, a lineage the nickname "Los Ingenieros" still carries.

The club's own ground, the Cancha Gilberto Fiengo on the university campus, holds barely a thousand people, so when Ingenieros needed a stage large enough for the Copa Simón Bolívar, Bolivia's second tier, it moved matches to the Estadio Jesús Bermúdez, with room for 33,000. The gap between the two grounds says something about a side that has spent its history rooted in a university community while still competing for promotion beyond it — in 2024 it beat Oruro Royal 4-0 in that same competition.

Football is not the only sport carrying the name: in 2011, the club's volleyball team won the Superior Volleyball League championship without losing a match.

None of it, though, is followed in Oruro with the intensity of the derby against Estudiantes Frontanilla. The Clásico Orureño has decided titles directly — Ingenieros beat Frontanilla to the 1994 and 1996 championships, and lost to them for the runner-up spot in 1993 and 1998 — a rivalry that has shaped the club's honours almost as much as its own performances have.
