Iserlohn Roosters

Michael Wolf still holds the club's scoring record from the Deutsche Eishockey Liga years, 447 points in 459 games. Mike York had his number retired after 278 points in 287 games, and Collin Danielsmeier pulled on the jersey more often than anyone else, 567 times.

The club started out in 1959 as EC Deilinghofen, in the Deilinghofen district of Hemer, and only found its present identity after a string of reinventions — ECD Iserlohn, ECD Sauerland, the Sauerland Iserlohn Penguins — before becoming Iserlohn Roosters in 2000, the year it joined the DEL. Under its old name it won the Northern German Championship three years running, 1962 to 1964, without ever forcing promotion to the top flight.

Since 2000 the Roosters have carried one of the smaller budgets in the league and have never lifted the DEL title or the German Cup, yet they have reached the playoff quarter-finals five times, most recently in 2020–21, and finished third in the regular season in 2015–16, still their best league placing. Wolfgang Brück has run the club as managing partner since 2002.

Matches against Kölner Haie are billed as the Westderby, with Düsseldorfer EG and Schwenninger Wild Wings supplying the other rivalries fans mark on the calendar. The Young Roosters academy has fed talent through to the first team over the years.
