Jerv

Levermyr sits close enough to the Grimstad shoreline that locals still call it by the old name alongside the sponsored one, J.J. Ugland Stadion, and it holds 3,300 people, just over 2,000 of them seated.

Jerv formed on 5 August 1921, though not under that name: the founding meeting happened on Vestergaten, and the club carried the street's name for a year before switching to Djerv, then Jerv — the Norwegian word for wolverine. Yellow and blue have stayed since.

For decades the club's business was lower-division football, with 3. divisjon titles piling up through the 1990s and 2000s and playoff heartbreak twice in the following decade, losses to IK Start in 2015 and Stabæk in 2016. The breakthrough came on 15 December 2021, against Brann in the Eliteserien promotion final: 4-4 after extra time, then a penalty shootout Jerv won 8-7, goalkeeper Øystein Øvretveit saving his way into the club's history. It was the first Eliteserien season Grimstad had ever seen. It lasted one year — 16th place, straight back down — and by 2024 Jerv had dropped further, to the second tier.

Ohi Omoijuanfo passed through in 2015, 16 goals in 31 games before Lillestrøm and the national team came calling. The derby against Start, from nearby Kristiansand, still carries the weight locally, known as the Sørlandsderbyet.

The task now is getting back up: Jerv sit in the 2. divisjon working toward a return to OBOS-ligaen, the level from which the 2021 run once launched.
