Komprachcice

OSiR Komprachcice opens its first season in the I Liga, the third tier of Polish men's handball, after fourteen years in the division below. The senior men's team won Group I of the II Liga in April 2026, sealing the promotion with a win over Gniezno on 11 April.

The handball section runs under the local Sports and Recreation Center and has been logged by the Opole Handball Association since the 2011/2012 season, its first in league competition. Home games are played in a hall on ul. Szkolna that holds 285 spectators.

The academy has already produced its own case study. The junior youth side won the Opole Voivodeship Championship in 2017/2018 and picked up the Grodków Handball Festival and the Komprachcice Christmas Tournament the year after. Przemysław Zadura came through that same age group before moving on to Gwardia Opole, Śląsk Wrocław and MMTS Kwidzyn, and went on to earn three caps for Poland; Komprachcice named him a Local Hero in 2019.

Promotion pulls Komprachcice out of the II Liga just as it looks set to leave its nearest rival behind: Gwardia Opole's reserve side, Gwardia II, has supplied the closest thing to a local derby, matches the town still calls the Derby Opola, alongside occasional meetings with Orzeł Opole and ASPR Zawadzkie.
