South Korea's under-23 side does not carry a fixture list of its own the way a club does; it assembles for tournaments and then disperses.

The team exists because of an eligibility line, not a founding myth: it split off from the senior national side in March 1991 after FIFA restricted the 1992 Olympic tournament to players 23 and under, and it played its first match that same March, against Indonesia.

The high point came in 2020, when South Korea beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 in extra time to win the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, four years after losing that same final to Japan 3-2.
