Litomerice BK

Northern Bohemia has its own quiet rivalry, and Litoměřice's runs against BK Děčín and Sluneta Ústí nad Labem, meetings the region still calls the Severočeské derby. None of the three sides carries a national title into those games.

The club's one season among the elite came in 1977/1978, in the old Czechoslovak first division, under coach J. Víšek. Litoměřice finished eleventh of twelve and went down. On that roster sat Jan Mrázek, who had already won bronze with the Czechoslovak league five times and earned 38 caps for the national team; by the time he pulled on a Litoměřice shirt, it was to close out his career rather than open a new chapter. A second relegation from the top flight followed after 1979/1980, when the league itself was cut down in size, and the top tier has stayed out of reach since.

These days the men's team sits in the second-tier 1. Liga, and the 2023/2024 season brought a third-place finish in the Western group and a run into the playoffs. Miroslav Soukup and Adam Žampach wore the shirt at that level back in 2015/2016. Below the first team, the youth sides compete in the Celostátní liga.

The communist reorganisation of Czechoslovak sport folded that group into TJ Slavoj Litoměřice in 1952, and it took until 1990, after the Velvet Revolution, for the club to re-register on its own terms and take back the name it had started with.
