The 2021-22 season ended with Manisa BB holding both trophies a Turkish basketball club can win in a single year. First came the Federation Cup, settled against Samsunspor 78-77 in a final decided by a single point on 26 September 2021. Nine months later the same squad beat Beysu Konyaspor in the Turkish Basketball League playoffs, turning the cup into a double.

The club traces back to 1994, when it played as Manisa Belediyespor under the city council; the metropolitan reorganisation of 2014 added "Büyükşehir" to the name still used for the double-winning side. That municipal chapter closed in August 2024, when the basketball section passed to a private company and became Manisa Basket.

Coach Hakan Demir led the team through the 2022-24 spell, with players such as Erdi Gülaslan and O.D. Anosike carrying the roster that made the leap into Europe.

Manisa keeps its rivalries close to home. The Aegean Derby pits the club against Pınar Karşıyaka and Aliağa Petkimspor, while the Manisa Derby against Akhisar Belediyespor stays strictly local. Games are played at the Tarık Almış Kapalı Spor Salonu, a hall that seats just 1,044.
