MGA Fivers Women

The club she grew up in started life as Handball Club Maroltinger Gymnasium, and only in June 2010, once it had linked up with the men's side Fivers WAT Margareten, did it take the colours and identity it plays under now.

Home games are played at Sporthalle Margareten on Hollgasse, a tight, 672-seat hall that leaves little room for a crowd to hide in. Across town sits WAT Atzgersdorf, and when the two meet it is billed as the Wiener Derby.

The championship the club points to is 2016, the year MGA Fivers won the WHA title, backed by cup wins in 2009 and again in the same golden spell of 2016 and 2017.

What keeps the club competitive is less the senior squad than what feeds it: alongside Frey, players such as Ines, Lena and Karla Ivancok have all passed through the same pipeline into the national team, a sign the academy work outlasts any single generation. MGA Fivers now goes into another WHA campaign.
