Milevsko

Twice in three seasons the same team stood between Milevsko and a step up the ladder. In 2023/24 TJ Hluboká nad Vltavou Knights beat them 3:1 in the Jihočeská krajská liga final, and the year before that HC Samson České Budějovice shut them out 3:0. The third attempt, in 2024/25, ran the other way: Milevsko turned the tables on Hluboká, won 3:1, and went up to the second tier.

The drop back down to regional hockey cost the club two more runner-up medals before the 2025 title finally reversed it.

The rink they play at, Zimní stadion Milevsko, holds 3,500, a capacity that dwarfs anything the club's league position has asked of it in recent years. Matches against HC Strakonice carry the weight of a proper derby, while the games with HC Vimperk have sharpened lately into some of the tightest hockey the regional league produces.

Two names outgrew the town rink altogether: Radek Martínek went on to win the World Championship with the Czech national team in 2000 and 2001 before playing in the NHL for Boston and Colorado, and Josef Vašíček took a World Championship in 2003 and a Stanley Cup in 2006 with Carolina before NHL spells with the Islanders and Edmonton. Milevsko's own hockey went back further than either of them — the club was formed in 1934 as SK Milevsko, and it carried that founding year back into its name in 2021, calling itself HC Milevsko 1934 after decades under other banners.
