«Mountain Hawks»
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, grew up around Bethlehem Steel. The program itself dates to 1884, when Lehigh met Lafayette College for the first time — still known simply as The Rivalry.
The Mountain Hawks play at Goodman Stadium, a 16,000-seat ground that once held 19,110 people for a game against Lafayette in 1991. They compete in the Patriot League at the FCS level, and their one national title came in 1977, a 33–0 win over Jacksonville State in the Division II championship. Two years later they reached the Division I-AA final and lost to Eastern Kentucky, 30–7.
Andy Coen spent thirteen seasons on the sideline, from 2006 to 2018, and left with 85 wins and five Patriot League championships.
Fourteen Patriot League championships now sit on the shelf, the most recent shared in 2024 and won outright again in 2025, and thirteen trips to the FCS playoffs stretch back to that first one in 1979. Through all of it, the constant has been Lafayette, the team Lehigh first lined up against in 1884 and has kept lining up against every year since.
