Muotathal

Fifty years after it started, in 2025, KTV Muotathal marked the anniversary with the club still rooted in the small hall where it has always played, the Mehrzweckhalle Muotathal, a ground that fills to a few hundred for league nights and swells past 700 when the village turns out for a festival. The club had begun in 1975, and its furthest reach came decades later, in the 2007/08 season, when it held a place in the Swiss National League B, the second tier of the sport. The nearest it has come to a cup run was in 2018/19, when it reached the round of 32 in the Schweizer Cup before going out.

Coaching has carried its own thread of experience: Marius Kasmauskas, a former international for Lithuania, has led the side, bringing a background well outside the canton to a club whose identity is otherwise pointedly local — its own supporters describe it as standing for "Inner Switzerland" as much as for Muotathal itself.

That local identity sharpens fastest against KTV Altdorf. The two sides meet in what is known locally as the Urschweizer Derby, a fixture that carries more weight than the league table around it would suggest, with a second, smaller rivalry running against Mythen-Shooters in between.
