Myanmar

The address the Myanmar Cricket Federation gives is a stadium built for football and athletics, not cricket: Aung San Stadium in Yangon, formerly the Burma Athletic Association ground, opened in 1906 and cut down over the decades from a 40,000 capacity to the 10,000 it holds now. The federation's offices sit in the south wing.

The sport itself in Myanmar goes back further than the federation that now runs it. The Marylebone Cricket Club played first-class matches in the country in the 1926/27 season, under colonial rule and under the name Burma. What followed after independence was near silence — between 1988 and 1995 the game was nowhere to be seen. A revival began in 2002, and three years later the Myanmar Cricket Federation was formed, joining the International Cricket Council as an affiliate in 2006 and reaching associate status in 2017.

The men's side waited over a decade for a first win, taking it at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games against Indonesia by four wickets. Progress in the shorter format has been slower still: their first Twenty20 international came against Bhutan in July 2023, and it took until January 2024, against China, for the first T20I victory to follow.

The women's team has moved faster. In 2024 it won the Merlion Trophy at the Singapore Women's Cricket Championships and took third place at the Belt and Road Women's T20I Tournament, results with no equivalent yet on the men's side, whose T20I record stood at 32 matches by December 2025 and whose next task is simply to win more of them than they lose.
