Rheintal

Heerbrugg lies in the Rheintal valley of St. Liga title and went up to the 1. Liga for the first time in the club's history.

Staying there has proved harder than getting there. Rheintal dropped back to the 2. Liga at the end of the 2024/2025 season, but came straight back up, beating SG Züri Oberland 40:28 in the return leg of the promotion playoff to secure an immediate return to the 1. Liga for 2025/2026. In the Swiss Cup, the club has reached as far as the round of 32, where it met TV Möhlin.

Off the pitch, matches are played at the OMR-Halle in Heerbrugg, a hall with room for only 100 spectators, under president Marc Schwarber.

None of it carries quite the weight of the fixture against HC Buchs-Vaduz. The two sides are close enough in the valley that the meeting has its own name, the Rheintal Derby, and it sits above the club's other regional matches against HC Goldach-Rorschach and TV Appenzell as the game that matters most on the calendar.
