Sosnica Gliwice Women

It grew out of Robotniczy Klub Sportowy Orzeł Sośnica, a multi-sport works club founded in 1945, with the handball section following in 1951.

The championships that matter to the club's history came early and came fast: titles in 1965, 1966 and 1972, with the Polish Cup added in 1966 and 1970. Twelve further podium finishes followed over the decades, including silver medals in 1996, 1999 and 2001, before financial trouble forced relegation from the Ekstraklasa in 2007 and years in the lower divisions. A dedicated Handball Association was set up in May 2014 simply to keep the team going. Sośnica returned to the Orlen Superliga for the 2024/2025 season on a wild card, after Handball JKS Jarosław withdrew.

Matches against KPR Ruch Chorzów still carry the old Silesian weight; the two sides call it the Derby Śląska. Home games are played in white and green at the Jerzy Wojewódzki hall in Sośnica.
