Handball grew out of that broader sports society and has stayed the section people in Steffisburg follow most closely.

The senior men's team has never reached the Swiss Cup or Nationalliga A, but it did climb to the top of Nationalliga B in the 2015/16 season. Behind that first team sits a second squad, drawn together with players from Wacker and, at times, TV Thun, which does its work several rungs lower, in the 1. Liga and 2. Liga and in regional competitions such as the Berner Cup and the Regio Cup. In 2019 that second team reached the Final 4 of the Regio Cup Bern-Jura, though the title went elsewhere.

Matches are played at the Sporthalle Musterplatz, a hall that holds 600 spectators.

Liga and 2. Liga, and use whatever cup run comes along, Berner or Regio, as a chance to test players before they are asked to do a job further up the club.
