Teramo Women

The one Serie A1 title in Teramo's history was won in the 2011–12 season. HF Teramo went bankrupt in 2013, unable to settle its debts with the Italian Handball Federation after slipping into Serie A2, and had to be refounded within the year under president Giuseppe Candelori. The reprieve that followed let the new club, Nuova HF Teramo, return straight to the top flight and keep the Scudetto and the rest of the record earned under the old name.

That championship squad is remembered through a few names rather than a whole roster: goalkeeper Giorgia Falini, pivot Miriam Di Giacomo, and back Elena Krese, who went on to take Italian citizenship. Serafino La Brecciosa coached the side that season. Beyond the title, the club kept finishing as runners-up — in Serie A1 in 2009–10 and again in 2014–15, and beaten in three Coppa Italia finals and two Supercoppa finals without winning any of them.

Known as Le Biancorosse for their white and red colours, the team plays at the Pala San Nicolò, which holds 1,500 spectators. Their fixtures against Chieti make up the Derby d'Abruzzo, while for years Teramo also had a rivalry closer to home, facing Gommeur Team Teramo in what was called the Derby Teramano. The club had reached Serie A1 within a handful of years of taking shape in 2002 as HC Teramo, and it was that rapid climb from a newly formed side to the country's top division.
