Uhersky Brod

Regional silverware is what this club has to show for eight decades on the ice: no Extraliga pedigree, only wins in the fourth tier — the Krajský přebor Jižní Moravy a Zlína in 2004–05, then the Zlínský kraj league three times over, in 2006–07, 2011–12 and 2012–13. Finals came and went the other way just as often, in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2014, so the club spent most of its existence as a name known mainly to its own district.

That changed in 2025. HC Spartak Uherský Brod bought a license from HC Vyškov and used it to step up into the 2. česká hokejová liga, the third tier, for 2025–26. It was the first season in living memory that Uherský Brod had played above the regional level, and they went straight to sixth in the Eastern Conference and a Round of 16 tie against HC LERAM Orli Znojmo, lost 2–3 in matches.

The club took its current name in 2014, having played simply as HC Uherský Brod for most of its history since 1941. Miloslav Gureň is the name attached to it beyond the region: a Montreal Canadiens defenceman and Extraliga player who started out here, returned to play from 2015 to 2023, chaired the club between 2018 and 2022, and took the chairmanship again in 2025.

Across the district, the derby with HC Spartak Velká Bíteš carries its own weight regardless of division — the two sit close enough on the Vysočina and South Moravian border that locals just call it the district derby, and a 6–2 win for Uherský Brod on 1 March 2017 is still the one people bring up. Home games are played in front of up to 2,800 at the Zimní stadion.
