«Wildcats»
Los Angeles Wildcats never got the chance to finish a season. The XFL's 2020 relaunch put a Los Angeles franchise in Carson, at Dignity Health Sports Park, and by the time the league suspended play in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wildcats had already faced the Houston Roughnecks, the Dallas Renegades, the DC Defenders, the New York Guardians, the Tampa Bay Vipers, the Seattle Sea Dragons and the St. Louis BattleHawks — a full slate of the league's other seven clubs inside a handful of weeks.
The franchise dates to 2020, one of eight built from scratch for the XFL's second attempt at a spring football league.
The XFL folded that April, days after suspending the season, and took the Wildcats down with it. The season simply stopped mid-schedule, and the club stopped with it.
What the Wildcats are remembered for is timing rather than results: a team assembled for one short season, playing every game it was given, with no chance to show what a second one might have looked like.
