The championship came two years later. Playing under Guy Chamberlin, a Hall of Fame end who doubled as coach, the Yellow Jackets closed the 1926 season at 14-1-2, the best mark in the league, and the title went to them without a further game — the NFL simply crowned the top record. Their roster that year was stacked with college talent, from Dartmouth's Swede Youngstrom to Nebraska's Ed Weir, but it was Chamberlin's name that stayed attached to the season.

A year earlier, the Yellow Jackets had found themselves on the other side of a dispute that still gets retold: Frankford considered Philadelphia its own territory, and when the Pottsville Maroons played an exhibition against the Notre Dame All-Stars in the city, the league stripped Pottsville of the 1925 championship over the trespass. The Yellow Jackets also kept an unusual fixture running from 1926, meeting the Green Bay Packers every Thanksgiving.

None of it survived the decade. Frankford Stadium burned, and the franchise folded in 1931.
