Zawadzkie go into the 2026/2027 season back in I Liga, having taken II Liga Group D in 2025/2026. That spell ended in a way that still colours how the club talks about itself: in 2012/2013 the team won its promotion/relegation playoff against Olimp Grodków, then withdrew from I Liga anyway because the money wasn't there.

The side that went up in 2015/2016 did it with 18 wins in 20 matches, a margin that left little doubt. There was a similar near-miss further back, in 2008/2009, when a second-place finish in I Liga earned a shot at Ekstraklasa football against Śląsk Wrocław — the closest the club has come to the top flight.

ASPR was founded in 2001 as an offshoot of the local sports movement in Zawadzkie, and its scoring history runs through two names from the same era: Grzegorz Giebel, the long-serving playmaker who topped the club's charts in both 2007/2008 and 2008/2009, and Artur Pietrucha, who finished as the second-highest scorer in the whole of I Liga in that 2008/2009 season with 138 goals. Paweł Śwat, who had moved on to play for Orlen Wisła Płock and Gwardia Opole, came back to Zawadzkie in 2016 as the promotion side was being rebuilt.

The current squad, built around wingman Philippe Broll as top scorer and playmaker Stanisław Tkacz, now has a full season in I Liga to hold on to what the return trip cost them to earn.
