Elek Gyula Aréna

The building itself is older. It was originally conceived as a sports hall for the Ganz industrial enterprise. The doors finally opened in February 1997.

Unlike the sprawling outdoor pitches of the capital, this is an indoor arena, built for the tighter, faster rhythms of handball, basketball, and volleyball. The capacity is small—1,300 seats.

The building has been through changes. A major renovation in the summer of 2016 replaced the old locker rooms, scoreboard, and lighting, reopening just months later in November. Another round of modernisation followed in 2018, focusing on energy efficiency: new windows, roof insulation, and an upgraded heating system. The arena also hosts conferences and galas, but its primary purpose remains sport.

There is another indoor arena in Hungary, in Szolnok, known as Tiszavirág Aréna, but that is a separate facility.
