The Lajos Vákár Ice Hall sits in Miercurea Ciuc. The structure dates back to the early 1970s, when the venue completed its construction in December 1970 and opened its doors on 27 January 1971. It was not always called by its current name; for decades it operated simply as the Műjégpálya, a designation it kept until 16 January 1999, when it was renamed to honour Lajos Vákár, a founding figure of the local hockey club who had passed away the previous year.

Inside, the floor is covered by an artificial ice surface cooled by mechanical refrigeration. The building itself has seen changes in how it accommodates spectators. While the initial setup held 3,000 people in a mix of seated and standing areas, the current configuration is often cited as holding 4,000. The arena serves as the home for HSC Csíkszereda. It has stage for wider competitions too, having hosted the 2007 IIHF World U20 Championship and the 2008 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A.

Ownership shifted in 2021, moving from the national Ministry of Youth and Sports to the Miercurea Ciuc city council, with renovation plans already in motion. The address remains Strada Nicolae Bălcescu nr. 9.
