The history of the place is tied to the hockey team KooKoo, which has played there since the venue first opened its doors. Before this building existed, the team played on an artificial surface on the same site, a fact that explains why the location feels permanent even though the building is not ancient. A large scoreboard hangs directly above the centre, casting a glow on the players during night matches.

Over the years, the seating capacity has shifted to meet the demands of the top-tier Liiga league. Temporary stands were once erected behind the main stands, but those were eventually removed to make room for basic facilities, showing a shift in priorities from pure capacity to comfort. The renovation efforts have been ongoing, with the most recent changes involving the construction of a lounge area that has reduced the available space for spectators.
