M. Sait Zarifoğlu Spor Salonu: Stadium in Ankara

The M. Sait Zarifoğlu Spor Salonu sits inside the General Directorate of Forestry complex in the Beştepe neighbourhood of Yenimahalle, Ankara. The building was opened in September 2016 after a renovation brought the floor up to UEFA standards for basketball. It was commissioned by the Forestry Directorate and named for M. Sait Zarifoğlu, a former engineer and head of the Forestry Engineers Chamber, in recognition of his work in the sector.

The hall is the home ground for OGM Ormanspor, a club that fields both men’s and women’s sides. The seating holds 1,250 for European competition, though older lists sometimes put the number at 2,000; the lower figure is the one that counts today.

The venue has seen a UEFA EuroCup group game, with OGM Ormanspor taking on Hungarian side Aluinvent DVTK in January 2021. It has also staged the Men’s Federation Cup quarter-finals in September 2021 and a stage of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup run by the International Union of Modern Pentathlon.
