Palau Blaugrana
Barcelona, Spain
The concrete shell of the Palau Blaugrana sits low against the sky on Avinguda Arístides Maillol.
The arena opened on October 23, 1971, and has kept its name ever since. When a major remodeling took place in 1994, the capacity grew to 7,334, and later adjustments pushed the number to 7,585. The current attendance record of 7,742 was set during the EuroLeague Basketball quarterfinals Game 5 between FC Barcelona Bàsquet and Olympiacos on May 8, 2024.
The building has also hosted events beyond football and basketball. It was one of the venues for the 1992 Summer Olympics, hosting Judo and Roller Hockey, as well as Taekwondo as a demonstration sport. Before that, it held the 1991 World Judo Championships. Concerts have filled the stands too, with acts ranging from Depeche Mode in 1987 to Chuck Berry in 1977.
