Sixways Stadium
Worcester, United Kingdom
The ground sits in Worcester, but it is the container for another sport entirely. The most striking feature is the naming on the seats. It is a split identity, or perhaps a nod to the city's history.
It stands in the shadow of the M5 motorway, which gave it its name. The structure itself is modern, a result of a £23 million redevelopment that began in 1998. The turf beneath is not natural grass; it is an artificial surface, the first of its kind in the Premiership Rugby, which was laid down in 2016.
The venue has hosted events far beyond the local league. It saw three Premiership Rugby Cup finals played out under its floodlights, as well as American football matches and concerts. Yet, for the locals, it remains the home of the Warriors. When they are, the yellow letters on the seats come alive. The David Lloyd health and racquet club sits within the complex, a reminder that the site serves the city beyond the weekend.
