Tønder Sport og FritidsCenter
Tønder, Denmark
Formerly: Tønderhallerne
The complex stands on Sønderlandevej, a road that cuts through the town of Tønder. The main hall, Hal 2, is where the attention settles. Here, TM Tønder Håndbold plays in the 888 Herre håndboldligaen.
It is a busy place. The schedule is tight, moving from badminton in the morning to handball in the evening. Synthetic floors carry the sound of shoes squeaking against them. The last time the place threw everything at it was in February 2026, when KIF Kolding visited. Eight hundred and sixty-three people watched the match. The home team won 34–21.
There is a swimming pool in the complex, built later, with a waterslide that children love. It is separate from the sports action but part of the same community effort. It remains a municipal facility, owned by Tønder Kommune. It hosts the Tønder Lace Festival and council meetings, too, things that have nothing to do with sport but keep the building alive.
It is an indoor centre, so the weather outside does not matter. The wind goes straight through the town, but inside the halls, the game continues. It is not a temple of football or a cathedral of sport. It is a hall. It is where the town goes to see its team play. Mostly it is just sport.
