Uruchye Sports Palace

Minsk, Belarus

Formerly: Physical Culture and Health Complex Uruchye, Army Manege

There are several large arenas in Minsk, but the Uruchye Sports Palace sits on Independence Avenue 196, tucked into the Uruchye microdistrict. The original project, developed in the late 1960s by the 'Voyenproekt' institute, was an indoor athletics arena for the Armed Forces.

It closed in 2010 for a reconstruction that took five years and cost roughly 400 billion Belarusian rubles.

Today, the hall hosts the handball club HC SKA-Minsk and the volleyball team Minchanka. It has also seen futsal matches, including a record crowd of 2,350 for a playoff game in 2025. It has hosted concerts and European qualification matches, but its primary identity remains tied to local team sports. The architect’s names are largely forgotten, even as the building stands between two eras of Belarusian sport.
