Olympique Lyonnais stands out as the most successful participant. The French club won the trophy in 2019 and again in 2022. North Carolina Courage claimed the inaugural title in 2018 by defeating Lyon 1-0. Portland Thorns secured the 2021 victory over their European rivals. These results highlight the competitive balance between American and international clubs.

Unlike national cups or league seasons, this tournament does not offer promotion or qualification rights. Its purpose is purely preparatory, allowing teams to test tactics before the official campaign begins. Sponsors such as Budweiser and Ally Financial have supported the event in the past. The competition remains distinct from other pre-season fixtures like the She Believes Cup, focusing on club-level invitational play rather than national team contests.
