The OBOS Super Cup is a pre-season winter tournament organized by Norwegian football clubs rather than the Norwegian Football Federation. It was founded in 2024 by Skeid and Grorud with support from the housing cooperative OBOS, which provides sponsorship. The competition was created to structure the long Norwegian pre-season period, replacing unstructured friendly matches with a formalized format.
The tournament typically features eight to twelve clubs from the second and third tiers, such as Skeid, Bærum, Asker, Ull/Kisa, and Eik-Tønsberg. The format consists of a group stage played in round-robin fashion during the winter months of January to March, followed by a single final match between the group winners. This approach ensures competitive fixtures without the pressure of official league standing consequences.
Skeid won the inaugural 2024 edition, defeating Frigg 2–0 in the final. In the subsequent 2025 season, Lokomotiv Oslo claimed victory over Bærum SK 3–2 after extra time. The 2026 edition has expanded to include clubs like Eik-Tønsberg and Ull/Kisa, continuing its role as a framework for winter training and preparation.
Results from these matches are classified as training or friendly games and do not count toward official league standings. The event serves primarily as a competitive environment for clubs to prepare for the upcoming campaign, distinct from the official Norwegian Super Cup, known as Mesterfinalen, which is sanctioned by the federation. By focusing on regional participation and a structured group stage, the competition offers a consistent platform for mid-tier clubs to test strategies before the main season begins.
