About

Serie A Women, officially known as the Serie A Femminile, stands as the premier level of Italian women's football. Established in 1968 by the independent Federazione Italiana Calcio Femminile, the competition transitioned to oversight by the Italian Football Federation in 1986. The tournament currently carries the sponsor title Serie A Femminile eBay.

The structure underwent a significant shift for the 2025–2026 campaign. The league expands to accommodate twelve clubs, moving away from the previous two-phase system that split participants into top and bottom groups. Under the new format, all teams compete in a single round-robin schedule. This change follows a period where ten sides contested the season through distinct phases for championship and safety positions.

Access to the top flight is determined by performance in the second tier. Three teams earn promotion from Serie B each season. At the opposite end of the table, the side finishing last faces direct relegation, while the team in eleventh place enters a playoff match against the runner-up from the second division.

Historical dominance is held by Torres, which has secured seven championship titles. Juventus currently holds the crown after winning the 2024–2025 edition and also maintains the record for the most consecutive victories. The path to professional status for these athletes arrived later than for their male counterparts, with full professionalization occurring in the 2022–2023 season.

Current participants include AC Milan Women, Como Women, Fiorentina Women, Genoa Women, Inter Milan Women, and Juventus Women. These clubs now compete for the highest honour in domestic women's football within Italy.
