About

The Faroe Islands Super Cup is an annual football competition organized by the Faroese Football Association (FSF). The tournament serves as the curtain-raiser for the national league season, bringing together the winners of the previous year's Premier League (Meistaradeildin) and Cup (Løgmanssteypið). If a single club secures the domestic double, the league runner-up steps in to take part in the match. The fixture is a single appointment; if the score remains level after ninety minutes, extra time follows, and the contest is ultimately decided by a penalty shootout.

First held in 2007, the event began under the name Lions Cup, named after its founding sponsor, the Lions Club, with proceeds going to charity. HB Tórshavn leads the record with six titles, securing victories in 2009, 2010, 2019, 2021, 2024 and 2025. Víkingur Gøta holds the distinction of five consecutive wins between 2014 and 2018. The largest victory margin in the competition's history is four goals, achieved by NSÍ Runavík in 2008. The current champion is HB Tórshavn, who defeated Víkingur Gøta 2–0 in the 2025 final. The competition operates independently of the league and the main cup structure, functioning solely as a super cup event with no promotion or relegation involved.
