Filip Brattbakk grew up carrying a name Norwegian football already knew. His father, Harald Brattbakk, played the game before him, and Filip was born in Copenhagen.

He joined Trond before moving into the Rosenborg BK academy in 2015. He won the Norwegian under-16 title in 2016 and the under-19 title in 2019, and was capped three times for Norway's under-17 side in 2017, scoring once.

Brattbakk made six Eliteserien appearances for Rosenborg's first team in 2020, then spent the following seasons playing elsewhere. A loan to Raufoss IL brought 15 matches and five goals in the second division, and a loan to Ranheim Fotball in 2021 produced 27 appearances and five goals. Raufoss signed him permanently afterwards, and he played 45 times for the club in 2022.

In 2024 he left Norway on a free transfer for 07 Vestur in the Faroe Islands, scoring seven or eight goals in 26 matches over half a season. He joined KÍ Klaksvík as a free agent in January 2025. His first season there brought the club's league and cup double, the league campaign completed without a single defeat. By the summer, Brattbakk had made 33 appearances for KÍ Klaksvík and scored 12 goals.
