Super Cup (Vietnam) 2027/28

The Vietnamese National Football Super Cup, officially branded as the THACO Super Cup, is an annual single-match fixture in Vietnam. Organised by the Vietnam Professional Football Jointstock Company (VPF) alongside the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the tournament serves as the curtain-raiser for the new domestic season. It sits at the apex of the national pyramid, pitting the V.League 1 champion against the winner of the Vietnamese Cup. When a side secures the double, the runners-up from the league take the place of the cup victor in the decider. The event traces its lineage to 1998, with the inaugural match taking place in March 1999. The first title was claimed by The Cong, now known as Viettel, who beat Cong An Ho Chi Minh City 3–0. The competition has faced significant disruption over the decades. It was not held in 1999, creating a gap before the 2000 edition resumed. More recently, the 2021 tournament was cancelled following the abandonment of the V.League 1 season due to the pandemic, meaning no champion was declared that year. Hanoi FC stands as the most successful participant in the competition’s history. The club has won five titles, securing victories in 2010, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022. This record surpasses Song Lam Nghe An and Becamex Binh Duong, who each hold four trophies. In the most recent era, Cong An Ha Noi FC has asserted dominance. They defended their title in 2026 with a record-breaking 5–0 victory over Nam Dinh, following their win against Ho Chi Minh City in 2025. The match format relies on extra time and penalty shootouts to determine the winner if the score remains level after ninety minutes. Since 2014, the event has carried the branding of Truong Hai Automobile Corporation (THACO).
