Taça da Liga (Portugal) 2025/26

The Taça da Liga, officially branded as the Allianz Cup, serves as the second-tier domestic cup in Portuguese professional football. It is governed by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional (LPFP) and restricts entry to clubs from the Primeira Liga and Liga Portugal 2. Reserve sides are ineligible for participation. The tournament structure, refined during the 2016–17 campaign, begins with one-legged ties for the second-tier teams. Victors face mid-table Primeira Liga opponents before joining the top four clubs from the previous season in a round-robin group stage. The four group winners progress to a knockout phase featuring semi-finals and a final, all contested as single-leg matches at a neutral stadium.

The winner receives domestic silverware only; the competition does not award European qualification. Benfica leads the historical standings with eight titles, while Sporting CP has secured four victories and Braga three. Vitória de Guimarães claimed the most recent edition, defeating Braga 2–1 in the final to capture their first trophy in the tournament’s history. Benfica also holds the record for the highest-scoring final, a 6–2 victory over Marítimo in 2016. The competition was established to provide additional fixtures for top-tier sides, often encouraging squad rotation among the nation’s elite clubs.
