Al-Jandal and Al-Wahda played out a 2:2 draw in the First Division League's sixth round on Saturday. The result leaves Al-Jandal in 16th place with four points from five games, while Al-Wahda remain in eighth with seven points and an unbeaten record.
The match turned on the first half. B. Whaeshi received a red card in the 45th minute, and within the same period three goals fell. J. Silva put Al-Jandal ahead before A. Al Salem equalised, then H. Fadiga gave Al-Wahda the lead in the 62nd minute.
And here's the thing — the red card didn't break Al-Jandal. They responded with composure, and Muralha's goal in the 71st minute restored parity. By then the visitors had already seen one man dismissed, yet they refused to close the game out.
Al-Wahda dominated possession at 55 per cent and registered 15 shots compared to Al-Jandal's 10. But shots accuracy tells a different story: the visitors hit the target seven times while the hosts managed five. To be fair, the extra man made a difference — Al-Jandal were sharper when it mattered.
Eight substitutions were made across the match, with both sides bringing on fresh legs in the second half. The hosts took off J. Silva and H. Fadiga in the 84th minute, while Al-Wahda replaced J. Al Dosari in the 75th.
For Al-Wahda this is a fourth draw in five games. They came into the match having lost none, and that unbeaten run continues, though the away points are far from guaranteed. Al-Jandal, meanwhile, paid for a sloppy opening — they were behind before the interval.
