Arosa beat Oberthurgau 5-1 in a club friendly on Friday, 15 August. The match was played at Arosa's ground and finished with a comfortable margin for the hosts. By then, the result said more about form than surprise.
Arosa have been struggling. Their last five games included defeats to Davos, Olten, Turgau, Ticino Rockets and Sierre — only one match ended without a loss. They came out with something to prove against a side that had also been finding results hard to come by.
Oberthurgau's recent record was no better. They beat Herisau 4-2 in a friendly on 11 August but had lost four of their other five matches, including a 0-10 hammering from Huttwil. They were not expected to trouble Arosa much.
The match itself was straightforward. Arosa opened the scoring early and never really looked back. Oberthurgau managed one reply but could not find a way back into it. The visitors never got out of second gear for long stretches.
What this means for the two sides is not much, really. It was a friendly, and neither table position nor points are at stake. But for Arosa, it was at least one result to take forward. For Oberthurgau, it was another day in a long season of searching for consistency.
