Ammerud 93 beat Bærum 103 in the Norwegian Basketball League on Saturday evening. The visitors pulled away after a steady start and held on for their first win in five league games. It was a result that shifted expectations for both sides near the bottom of the table.
The game opened with Bærum pressing the ball and trying to control the tempo. They stayed within striking distance through the first half but Ammerud found their rhythm in the second period. By then the visitors were switching players, getting into the paint, and letting the game flow at their own pace. They punished Bærum from the perimeter and extended their lead without panic.
Bærum sit sixth after 27 games with 12 wins and 15 defeats. Ammerud remain seventh, nine victories and 18 losses on the board. The gap between them is narrow enough that tomorrow's fixture matters more than the standings suggest.
Both sides have been inconsistent lately. Bærum lost three of their last four outings, including heavy defeats against Kongsvinger. Ammerud had dropped to 66-90 and 69-83 against Gimle before breaking that streak with back-to-back wins over TNT Towers and Froya Basket.
We had tipped the home side at 56 per cent confidence. The forecast didn't materialise. Bærum switched off at the back when it counted and Ammerud took advantage.
The result closes a rough patch for the visitors and leaves Bærum searching for answers. Both clubs have eight games remaining and the race for stability is already underway.
