Blooming and Real Oruro played out a 1-1 draw in the Primera División Apertura, round 17, on Wednesday evening. The hosts controlled much of the game but could not find a winner against a side that refused to fold. The final whistle brought two points each, neither side particularly happy with the outcome.
By then, Blooming had pinned Real Oruro back in their own half. They moved the ball with confidence, playing 68 per cent of the possession and launching 101 attacks. The visitors sat deep, waiting for something to happen. To be fair, they had a plan, even if it only yielded one big chance all game.
The breakthrough came in the 68th minute when D. Pinto found the net. Blooming finally broke through a stubborn defence, and the crowd roared them on. Real Oruro had to respond, but they lacked the tools to do so. The hosts kept pressing, but each attack fizzled out in the final third.
It was not until the 89th minute that Real Oruro made the difference. G. Cuasace struck to level the score, catching Blooming on the break. By then, both sides were running on empty. The game should have been over, but something else had other ideas.
In the 90th minute, A. Rivera received a red card, leaving Real Oruro to play with ten men for the dying moments. There were yellow cards for F. Gatti and R. J. Balceras Cuellar earlier, but nothing that changed the flow. The match ended with tension hanging in the air, and neither side got what they wanted.
The statistics tell a familiar story. Blooming had 11 shots on target and 10 key passes, yet managed only one goal. Real Oruro created one big chance and took three shots on target, enough to salvage a point. The visitors made 15 successful tackles and 33 clearances, doing the dirty work while the hosts dominated possession.
After 17 games, Blooming sit ninth with 23 points, while Real Oruro are 11th with 18. Neither result moves them dramatically, but the draw keeps both sides within reach of each other. The gap remains small, and the season still has plenty of room to shift.
