Esters and United Nordic met at Vismaborg Arena on Thursday, 4 September, in the 22nd round of the Superettan. The visitors won 2:1, moving ahead of their hosts in the table.
The game opened without excitement until the 30th minute, when Oscar Uddenäs picked up a yellow card for Esters. United Nordic held their shape, and Elias Durmaz also went to the referee's book a minute before half-time. The visitors took the lead six minutes after the break when Aziz Harabi got over the line. Esters levelled quickly, Uddenäs scoring in the 66th minute after a sharp turn of events.
Substitutions came thick and fast in the second half. Magnus Christensen and Keyano Marrah replaced Esters players on 58 and 59 minutes. Theodor Johansson was brought on for United Nordic at 75, while Daniel Ask, Tatu Varmanen and Elias Durmaz all entered the fray at 83. Three changes for the hosts in one window — the old head settled them down, or so it looked.
Harabi restored United Nordic's advantage in the 77th minute. Kingsley Gyamfi and Nhome Daneyl both collected yellow cards for Esters in the closing stages, but the result was already clear. The away end never stopped celebrating.
United Nordic dominated possession at 61 per cent and registered 87 attacks compared with 70 for Esters. The visitors hit the target six times; Esters managed four. Both sides were inaccurate — shots accuracy sat at 33 per cent away and 36 per cent at home — but United Nordic were ruthless when it mattered.
The win leaves United Nordic on 32 points in sixth place, one ahead of Esters, who remain on 21 points in fifth. The visitors had lost their last outing 3:1 away to Norrköping, so this result breaks a run of poor form. Esters, by contrast, are coming off a 1:1 draw with Sandviken.
