Gaagra and Araqvi Dusheti played out a goalless draw in the quarter-finals of the David Kipiani Cup before Gaagra won the subsequent penalty shootout. The match finished 0:0 after extra time, with the visitors reduced to ten men when A. Oppong was sent off in the 94th minute.
Neither side created much in regular time, though Gaagra registered 14 shots off target and 6 on target compared to their opponents' 5 and 3. The visitors had more possession but failed to test the Gaagra goalkeeper, while the home side saw a penalty awarded late in extra time.
The shootout proved decisive. Gaagra converted all four of their penalties through Kekelidze, Dvalishvili, Khachidze and Zoidze, while Dusheti scored three from five attempts with Bregvadze, Javakhishvili and Mujiri finding the net. Goshteliani and Molashvili missed for the visitors, as did Bzekalava.
Statistically, Gaagra dominated the match with 187 attacks to 122 and 66 per cent possession. They also won more throw-ins and corners, though the numbers tell only part of the story. The game remained tightly contested throughout, with five yellow cards issued in extra time alone.
Gaagra extend their unbeaten run to eight matches with this result, having drawn three and won five in that period. Araqvi Dusheti's campaign comes to an end, despite a respectable away record that included victories against Gori and Gareji earlier in the month.
