David Petriashvili Arena

The David Petriashvili Arena was not built for football at all. Tbilisi raised it in 2015 as an athletics venue.

The renaming tells its own story. It only took its current name in 2017, after David Petriashvili, a figure in Georgian football administration, died in a car accident in December 2015.

At 2,130 seats, it sits well below what a top-flight ground would need, which fits its current tenants: FC Gagra Tbilisi, FC Iberia 1999 and the reserve side Dinamo Tbilisi-2 all use it as a home ground, sharing a pitch that was never meant to carry three clubs' fixture lists. The natural turf is kept in the same shape it had for the 2015 festival, with none of the redevelopment that often follows when a stadium changes from athletics to football use.
