Iraklis Yerolakou and Ayia Napa played out a 1:1 draw in the second division's regular season on Friday. The result leaves both sides with a point after their opening fixture of the campaign.
P. Pericleus gave Ayia Napa the lead in the 22nd minute with an own goal, before N. Milinceanu levelled for the visitors just seven minutes later. Things came to a head quickly, with the young striker finishing calmly to rescue his side from behind.
Iraklis sit fifth in the table with three points from one game, while Ayia Napa remain in 13th place on zero points. The home side had won their previous outing 2:0 against Halkanoras, but the visitors have not won since their 1:3 defeat to ASIL Lysi earlier this month.
Both teams showed flashes of quality in the opening half-hour, though Iraklis were second to everything after their own goal. Ayia Napa responded well, switching to a more direct approach that eventually paid off.
The draw brought both clubs level on points after one matchday, with Iraklis holding a comfortable cushion at the top of their section. Ayia Napa will be looking to bounce back from their opening defeat when they next take to the pitch.
