Milonarios claimed a 2-0 victory against Llaneros in the seventh round of the Clausura tournament at Estadio Belo Horizonte on Thursday evening. The Colombian side controlled proceedings from the opening whistle, capitalising on an early dismissal to secure all three points.
The decisive moment arrived in the fifth minute when Jhon Vasquez received his second yellow card and was sent off. To be fair, Milonarios had already won the physical battle, with S. Valencia collecting back-to-back bookings within four minutes of that incident. Llaneros were outnumbered from the start and struggled to find any rhythm.
Francisco Chaverra provided the breakthrough just before half-time, scoring in the 29th minute before adding a second goal one minute later. By then the visitors were running the show, and they doubled their advantage when Daniel Felipe Ruiz Rivera found the net in the 49th minute, though a VAR check initially cancelled the goal for offside before it was eventually awarded.
Milonarios dominated the statistics with 68 per cent possession compared to Llaneros's 32. The visitors registered eight shots on target with an expected goals tally of 1.57, while the hosts managed just two shots on target and 0.48 xG. The result moves Milonarios further clear in 10th place with 26 points from 19 matches, while Llaneros remain rooted in 14th position with 22 points. The gap between them has widened, and for the home side the season is slipping out of reach.
