Sparta Praha

Match report

Sparta Prague met Vysočina Jihlava in a club friendly on Thursday evening, and the final whistle brought a 5-3 result that told only part of the story. The hosts took an early lead through J. Brunes, who struck in the twenty-sixth minute before R. Mokrovics equalised for the visitors six minutes later. Brunes restored Sparta's advantage just before half-time, and M. Jurasek made it 3-1 for Vysočina in the forty-fifth minute. The break arrived with both sides having contributed to a game that refused to settle.

Eight substitutions came together at the interval, a tactical reshuffle that kept the intensity up. T. Guddal and P. Kaderabek followed on for Vysočina in the fifty-second minute, while the rest of the changes had already been made. The second half opened with more urgency, and T. Omotoye gave Vysočina the lead with a brace in the sixty-second and sixty-sixth minutes. Sparta responded through P. Vydra in the eighty-second, and Jurasek completed his evening with a second goal four minutes later.

and here's the thing — the statistics show a match that was far more even than the scoreline suggests. Sparta recorded 106 attacks against Vysočina's 110, while possession split 51-49 in the hosts' favour. Both sides registered two offsides, and the defensive discipline was similar across the board with no cards issued. The shots that didn't find the net tell their own story about chances going begging.

by then, the result had settled into a friendly that both teams could take something from. Sparta's recent form showed a run of three consecutive victories before this match, while Vysočina had mixed results in their previous outings. The scoreline reflects a game where neither side could fully close the other out, and the back-and-forth nature meant nothing was decided until the final whistle.
