Udinese drew 3-3 with Mainz 05 in a Club Friendlies match on 1 August 2026. The result left both sides with a point each from the encounter at the Friuli stadium. Neither manager could claim a comfortable victory, and the scoreline reflected the back-and-forth nature of the contest.
Mainz took an early lead through S. Becker in the fourth minute. Udinese responded with a goal of their own seventeen minutes in before Mainz struck again at the twenty-one minute mark. The hosts levelled at thirty-six minutes, setting up an open second half.
Becker restored Mainz's advantage in the fifty-first minute, only for R. Konigsdorffer to add a third for the visitors sixty minutes in. The final tally showed six goals across the ninety minutes, with neither side able to hold on for more than a brief spell.
For Udinese, this followed a mixed pre-season run. They had lost 2-1 to Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai on 28 July, then dropped a 2-0 defeat to Swansea on the 24th. A 2-2 draw with Istra 1961 on 18 July offered some consolation before two consecutive losses to Napoli and Cremonese closed out their previous fixtures.
Mainz arrived in better form. A 1-0 win over Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai on 31 July capped off a sequence that included a 3-0 victory against Holstein Kiel, a 4-1 triumph over Kaiserslautern, and two one-sided victories against smaller opposition.
Both sides now look ahead to their domestic campaigns. The friendly result offers little more than a snapshot of fitness and shape, but the attacking rhythm on display suggests neither side will find the new season easy going.
