Göteborg shared the points with Umeå in a 1-1 draw during the twelfth round of the Elitettan. The result leaves the visitors still sitting at the summit while the hosts remain in fifth place. It was a match decided by two goals, but the pattern of play told a different story.
Umeå started with intent and picked up two bookings in five minutes when E. Becker went to ground. A. Forss came off at half-time, and Göteborg changed shape at the break. To be fair, both sides looked for something more in the second period.
L. M. Westbom gave the home side the lead just before the hour mark. E. Becker was then substituted, and M. Svensson came on to replace him. The visitors tightened things up after going behind and began to look more organised.
Göteborg made three changes in quick succession. L. Brogren, T. Backstrom and M. Landin all entered the fray between the seventy-first and eightieth minutes. By then the home side had been left flat-footed and were chasing the game.
T. Sorlen was the last change for Umeå, brought on in the eighty-fifth minute. M. Davin found a way back into it with a stoppage-time equaliser. One mistake ends it, and Göteborg cannot afford another slip.
The draw extends Göteborg's unbeaten run to eight across all competitions. Umeå's recent form has been inconsistent, having lost four of their last five matches. This result keeps them within touching distance of the play-off places, but the gap to first remains wide.
