Vejen — Gladsaxe: 72:89, Basketligaen

Gladsaxe came away with a 89-72 win against Weiyen in the Basketballligaen on Thursday evening. The visitors controlled the game from the opening tip and never lost their grip on the result. Weiyen, who sit 11th in the table with three wins and 19 defeats, were unable to contain the opposition's offensive flow.

Gladsaxe found a way through in the early stages and never got out of second gear. They built a comfortable lead that Weiyen could not meaningfully challenge. To be fair, the home side had moments where they could have shifted momentum, but the visitors refused to go away.

We gave Gladsaxe a 55 per cent chance of winning before kick-off and the prediction held up. The away team's efficiency on both ends of the floor made the difference against a Weiyen side that struggled to match their tempo.

The statistics tell a clear story. Gladsaxe shot 32 of 74 field goals and 10 of 36 from three-point range, while Weiyen managed 23 of 56 and 8 of 22. The rebounding battle was decisive: Gladsaxe pulled down 44 boards to Weiyen's 26, with 18 offensive rebounds giving them second-chance opportunities.

Gladsaxe recorded 23 assists against 10 turnovers, showing better ball movement than the hosts. Weiyen had 21 assists but also 12 turnovers that interrupted their rhythm. The defensive presence was evident in Gladsaxe's four blocks compared to Weiyen's single attempt.

The result leaves Weiyen still adrift in 11th place after 22 games. Gladsaxe continue their push up the table, though the standings show little movement in a league where gaps are often marginal.
